Yes to Carrots Color Balm in Soft Plum

Yes to Carrots' latest product is their Color Balm; a lightly tinted lip balm with a glossy finish. I have the shade "Soft Plum", which applies similar to its name and has a my-lips-but-better appearance. Per Yes to Carrots:

"This lightly tinted 'color balm' has a glossy, smooth glide-on application, providing rich lip nourishment with a hint of tint. Formulated with Vitamin E, Jojoba Oil, and Sunflower Seed Oil, our Color Balms will leave lips soft, smooth, and ready to smooch."

Yes to Carrots Color Balms are a touch longer than Chapstick, and the cap covers most of the balm. The diameter is slim, so it's easy to apply without any error. I notice a subtle waxy fragrance during application, and shortly thereafter, but this fragrance does not last throughout wear. (There's a waxy taste as well.)

"Soft Plum" applies a sheer tint of plum color, but it's not so sheer that you can't tell you have something on your lips, and it's buildable so you can layer as desired. There's also a very subtle sheen, which gives a little something extra to your lips. "Soft Plum" is a nice shade that will suit most anyone, and I especially like it for casual days when I want a minimalist look to my makeup.

Yes to Carrots Color Balm in "Soft Plum" is moisturizing, but not long-wearing. I get about 2.5 hours of wear with this balm, and it holds up only moderately well through drinking. (It does not hold up through a meal.) I wouldn't say this balm is "rich", as the packaging describes, and I don't know how much good it would do for someone who has chapped or otherwise damaged lips.

In conclusion, Yes to Carrots Color Balm in "Soft Plum" provides a very lovely wash of color and sheen to lips, and moisturizes while it wears. The color is great if you're looking for something subtle, yet noticeable, but the wear is just okay, so keep it in your pocket/purse for touch-ups!
